The quarry which is operatıonal since 1860 's .The region is called HARMANCIK DEPOSIT -one of the main chrome ore bases in Turkey in terms of quality and volume. From 1860 to the second world war the mine was operated by German and French investors as a source of high grade (52%-48% CR2O3 ) lumpy chrome ore As per site drilling made in 1941 the quarry is holding probable reserves of high grade lumpy chrome ore.Howewer due to the additıonal drilling requirement the quarry is currently operated as a source of low grade concentrated chrome ore. Due to mild weather conditions the quarry is operational almost 10 months .

Drilling has been made at the quarry between 1971-1974 by MTA ( Mining Technical Resources) a state owned company.Within this time frame geological maps with various scales have been made prepared and 18 drilling processes with a total depth of 5,150 meters were conducted. İt is estimated that 25,000,000 tons of high concentrated ıron ore can be produced within this site.
